I wonder if there has been any success in treating PD and GAD with Reichian work? I personally deal with both and would love to go a non-medication route - I see hints here and there but nothing concrete.

Re: Reichian therapy and Panic Disorder
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 8:43 PMSuccess in "Reichian" terms is hard to correlate to
traditional treatments for PD as the traditional or medication
routes would of course dismiss any comparison.
However, I think that you should be able to sense what treatments
would be good for you, look into them further and try anything that you
think could help while doing no harm....
Reichian therapy by its very nature goes to focus on issues like
physical and emotional reactions, anger, fear, etc.
It would seem like a theraputic approach at the very least
(on the way to a cure - if not a "cure" in and of itself.)
Check out an easy to get out of print book called "Me and the Orgone"
by Orson Bean. It describes the process of actual therapy pretty well.
all best,

Re: Reichian therapy and Panic Disorder
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 10:15 PMwell, S. Jason Black mentions that his Panic Attacks were cured by an anonymous doctor (gee, I'm just guessing) who is known for Reichian work. since I seem to have a similar orientation as him, this is one thing that made me think that it might be a viable option. I am in the process of getting off of medication as we speak (can you say OWWW???) and I'd like something that is not dependent on addictive meds and am shit tired of the damn physical symptoms. fear, anxiety, okay. whatever. work through it. but feeling like you are having a heart attack half the day with numb hands and feeling like you're in an OBE? makes it hard to deal with shit. -

Re: Reichian therapy and Panic Disorder
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 3:32 PMTry some Rescue remedy by Dr. Bach every time you have an episode. Remember to breathe through your nose and out through your mouth.
You may also want to try Rhiodiola- this is a super oxygen food that produces seratonin and alows the recievers to recieve more seratonin. Also is an anti-stress and anti depressant naturally. There are many natural alternatives to medication. Also Valerian and Poppy combination should soothe your nerves. Also wear pearls, they calm the mind when worn against the skin. Ground up hyrdolized pearls can also be eaten and are a great source of coral calcium (ancient chinese female beauty secret) that builds bones and teeth, helps calms the mind.
There is a Mundra (hand posture) for calming the mind. Sit in lotus position with right leg out and left leg inside. Put arms folded over like I dream of Jeanie posture( right arm always above left , unless you are left handed) and breath in through your nose and out through your mouth, must hold for a minimum of 3 minutes or more to be fully effective. Hope that helps. I have been a medicine woman for 22 years. Feel free to email me here. Hope that is helpful. A bit off the subject but wanting to address your needs. As Far as Reichian therapy I'm not as familiar with medical implications and am more familiar with it's physics and history. All the best
